'93 9000CSET. When my bad shock tensioner was replaced along with new serp belt in July, the indie said the idler pulley looked worn and suggested replacing.
For past two months I've been getting the occasional high-pitched whistle while driving. No patterns, just random whistling. Some days there is none, while other days it's on/off while driving. Throttle changes or temperature don't affect pitch or duration of whistling.
Is this indeed a sign of bad idler pulley bearings ? My car is approaching 195k KMs and don't know if the pulley has ever been replaced before. From the posts I've read it seems highly recommended to replace it than to risk getting stranded.
Is there just one idler pulley, which is attached to the tensioner bracket by a bolt ? I presume this is part #4901625G (kit) on eEuroparts ?
TIA,
Ken
