if the oem ones are as bad as you state, then there probably isn't that much rubber holding back the metal sway bar from rubbing against the metal mounting bracket.
And this could happen with a forward/reverse motion since stress is being applied to the bar at those initial times (the weight of the car is shifted backward when you first start out forward, and shifter frontward when you start out in reverse). Once the car is moving, the suspension then settles until it encounters any variations in the road (bumps, hills, potholes, etc.).
Swap out those bushings--extremely easy job to do. I found that leaving the car on the ground (as opposed to raising it) made it much easier to align the bracket to the bar since tension was being applied to it. When you raise the car, tension is taken off the bar, but then it swings up and is very difficult to bring back down by using muscle-power. And be certain to use the supplied grease/lube on the bushings. If they didn't come with it, then go out and buy some (white lithium grease). This keeps the poly from squeaking since poly is prone to it.
