s. I chose not to go to the body shop as they tend to get into costing more than the car is worth. I have went into rust prevention mode trying to slow the spread by using my dremel on the backside of the wheel arch to remove the loose stuff then covering with a rust inhibitor. Patching the rust and finishing to look like new is possible but costly. You have to use conventional body shop techniques to fix (welding in new metal, filling, sanding, repainting). You can ususally curb the spread of rust if you attack it correctly.
Regarding your leather, the skin shrinks over time as it dries. Try to lubricate it with a conditioner. It may take several attempts to get it back to where you want it, but you can usually prevent it from splitting at the seams if you keep at it.
Good luck
David
