a combination of MityVac and clutch pumping has yeilded a very good clutch. No air was coming out, however when I unscrewed the the bleeder nipple too much my girlfriend repoerted that all resistence was lost in the car. I kept the screw loose enough for a good steady flow, until solid fluid came out.
I haven't test driven it yet, but ther eis no dead play in hte clutch and it feels like it did before hose went south, so I;m in the clear,,,,,,for now!
People were right, pedal bleed doesn't work very well, but once I got the air moving with the mityvac (with few pumps of the clutch, I got about 4 inches of resistence, enough to start the pedal pump.
My pressure bleed worked only temporarily, as the cap I glued the valve to did not allow enough pressure( i used coolant cap)....I think they are rated to lie 22psi before the evac air. I did not have enough time to find an appropriate cap and re-glue the valve, so on with the mityfoot bleed method.
If it dies on me, well I'm not to far from the indy;-)
