Transmission mounting

Hey Saab-lovin girls and boys!
I've posted on this particular problem before, but I think I might have it figured out and I was hoping someone might be able to advise:
I have a mysterious noise whenever the car's weight is shifted forward (such as on braking or when going down a hill) and it sounds like what I would imagine the engine might sound like if a motor mount was bad and the engine was hitting something.
All my motor mounts are <1 year old, but my transmission mount is very old so I'm thinking it is that. Does this seem reasonable?
I can I check its condition myself?
And can someone give me the low-down on what is involved in changing it? My long-distance boyfriend is a medium-good DIY mechanic, but doesn't know Saabs very well, but he changed my other motors mounts...Think he could he do it in, say, half a day next time I go for a visit?
Anyone have an idea of how much it might cost me to get this job done by a pro? I live in Connecticut.
Thanks a lot everyone!
Annie
