I absolutely love mine. Not only does it work functionally, it also looks good in the car.
If you go through the dealer, it's $$$$$ (as in $200+ USD). You can find them in salvage yards, cars being parted out, eBay (I've seen a few on there). If you buy one that does not match your interior, you could always buy just the leather skin from Saab, or continue to wait for one to pop up at one of the places I just mentioned. Or you could get it dyed to match your interior.
The whole contraption fits over the center console between the two front seats. There are 2 long metal legs that extend from around midway up the sides of the front seats down to the floor (small hump under the center console).
You will need to buy the cage nuts (as they're called) from Saab. No hardware store carries these things. They are basically regular nuts surrounded by a metal square "cage" that fits into the square holes pre-drilled in the hump underneath all of the carpetting and padding.
The only thing bad about this armrest is that it does not allow full opening of the center console lid. You can only open it about 45 degrees, since the armrest pad gets in the way (even though you can lift the pad up, it's still not enough).
Husco.com sells an armrest for the 9K in all interior colors with a built-in cupholder !!!!! Last I saw, it was selling for $100 USD. I know some people on this board have this style. This type mounts to the center console lid with double-sided tape or by drilling holes and using screws.
