Both of these answers are from my own experience in a '89 CDT, YMMV. The caliper price is pretty good, if it is a new part then yes, too high for a rebuilt.
If you drive with bad mounts, eventually you can get loud clunking noises as the engine movement rips away at the points where it attaches to the subframe. When it completely seperates at the top mount area is when you start to really lose power to lateral engine movement. Your shifter will buck and engaging gears may become difficult without double-clutching. Starts from a stop will be accompaied by a loud clunk as the engine moves forward. It stresses out the clutch, tranny, S-belt and everything that moves with it, etc. In short, it really sucks. -AMG
P.S. To those who hate to hear of such Saab abuse please forgive me. My youthful lack of funds plus new baby put this Saab in jeopardy. Luckily she's being resurrected right now.
