Hello, and thanks for those who encouraged me to bring the 88 S home to strip for parts for the new 88 T. S Should be a skeleton by Monday. Two questions;
The new T has a tired synchro on second, and I've been to the excellent site with the photo record of the replacement; that synchro is a loooong way in. The synchro on the S is fine. I know the final ratio on the T is different. Is it possible to swap just a few parts to get the T ratio out of the S transmission? Getting the S tranmsission tomorrow regardless, but would prefer the T ratios when it goes in the new car next year.
Next, block and head. Are there differences between the S and T block or head? The head is coming out regardless, but I'm tempted to pull both from the S to rebuild leisurely over the winter and drop into the T once it gets warm. With a clutch, couple of cylinders, transmission and some new mounts, it should feel like a new car.
TIA,
Larry Wagg
