My 94 9000 sometimes is very difficult to shift into reverse. This is much more that just the "shift into fourth, then into reverse" thing which is refered to in the owners manual. I have read the threads on the site which pertain to this problem and it appears that the clutch not fully disengaging may be the problem. If the car is rolling backward slowly the problem does not seem to occur. I plan to also test for the non-disengaging clutch condition by turning the engine off the next time the problem occurs but I haven't tried that yet. I have recently replaced the engine and in the process installed a new clutch. This didn't cure the problem. Since the clutch had to be pressure bled in the process of installing the new engine, I don't suspect that it needs to be re-bled. More likely I suspect that there may be some wear in the clutch linkage which is causing the clutch to not fully disengage. There is a thread posted where the poster says he had a new transmission installed in his car and still the problem continued. Later he says he took the car back to the shop where the transmission was installed and afterwards it shifted like butter. Problem is he doesn't say what the mechanic did to fix the shifter problem. Since I am acting as my own mechanic, I need to know what to do to fix the problem. Does anyone know what the solution to this problem is? Thanks.
