Brake problem on 88 9T
I have a 1988 9000 with 89,000 miles. Recently my pedal went to the floor. Prior to that it worked ok but the pedal was real hard. Now it either works ok or I get half a pedal. I tried to panic stop and it seemed like only the left front wheel was wowrking. I hit a small patch of ice with the front wheel (intentionally) and I got nothing from the other three. While parked, I started the car so the accumulator would fill up with pressure and pressed my foot on the pedal and held it there. I heard a hissing sound like the pressure was leaking out. The car has ABS but there was a problem with it so the previous owner had it disconnected. We checked all parts – wheel cylinders are ok, calipers are ok, pads are good, so are the rotors.
Any ideas out there? Does anybody know if we can refit the brake system with a non-ABS unit?
