The explanation I got from a previous post was that the non-electronic throttle bodies use a 2 spring system to keep the pedal from staying down (duh!). You can remove the outer spring, making the pedal easier to push, but if the inner one fails, you are screwed 'cause nothing will keep the pedal from staying down.
