Looks to me like they switched the capacities between the V-6 and the 4. Anyway, 5 quarts is correct for a '97 9000 4 cylinder. I found that the level dropped a bit further upon driving the car as opposed to just starting the engine and letting it idle.
Older 9000s took 4.5 quarts.
