Hi all,
I've been eliminating possible sources of problems for my car before I take it to an expensive mechanic. A few days ago my car was suffering from stalling after deceleration. (86 9k Turbo) There was also stalling or very fluctuating idle after 20 seconds. The car starts fine. I found that the Turbo BPV was blown, so I replaced that. Problem solved? Well no.
There is still the problem of fluctuating idle after 10-20 seconds, as if the timing was way off, but it starts okay. I also found the plugs to be carbon fouled (running rich) This is followed by exhaust smoke and smell of fuel.
Another thing I've noticed is a bit of clear liquid seeping out of a seam from the turbo on the exhaust side. Wierd since this year was not liquid cooled.
Here's what I've done or replaced:
- new BPV
- checked and cleaned AMM - wires look fine
- new fuel filter, dist cap/rotor
- air filter is fine
- replaced spark plugs (NGK-BCP7EV, have done me fine)
- checked for air leaks - none that I can see
- replaced air check valve
- there is HT spark going to each cylinder using timing gun
- not losing coolant/no oil in coolant

I havent checked the O2 sensor though. How is this done and could this be a source of trouble? Anybody have ideas? I'm starting to lose hope.
