Turbo or not/strategy Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Is a 94 CSE worth $4500?, Paul Urbano, Mon, 5 Jan 2004 18:36:39 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Is the car a Turbo (the 93 - 94 CSE had the turbo as optional equipment)? This makes about a $1000 difference. Without a turbo, the car is seriously overpriced, and might be slower than you like, 150 horsepower (200 with turbo). Pay particular attention to the automatic transmission and how it shifts - a replacement can be a $3000 job. Most people would like their potential purchases checked by a competent mechanic - depends on your skill/experience level. Also check http://www.quasimotors.com website for some things to look for.
For a better idea on what it's worth, take a look at some websites like Kelly Blue Book or Edmunds (can't provide the links due to the rules of this board). Edmunds in particular lists very low prices for used cars, and it might be an effective bargaining tool to bring a printout of what you find.
Despite the enthusiasts on this site (including myself), the current market for used cars is hugely depressed - especially on a 10+ year old car - thanks to 0% financing, etc. Of course, this also means that there are now great deals out there.
Good luck!
