If mine is supposed to have built-in plastic light guides (and that's my question), then they're missing. I only recently acquired this car, and I suppose that part could have been removed by the prior owners. Anyway, I completely disassembled (and cleaned) the unit, and there was no piece like that. FWIW, I removed the small green lens cover with no improvement. I also shown a small magnalite (much brighter than the bulb) into the socket also without any improvement. The reason is that the light must be directed to the switches to backlight them. The bulb alone, with or without the green lens, is insufficient to backlight all of the switches from its single location. If mine is supposed to have built-in plastic light guides, I sure would like to find one.
