Rapid gas tank emptying

Tonight while driving the gas tank on my 1994 9000 CS (105K miles) basically emptied itself out over the course of about 10 miles with little / no warning -- mileage through this past weekend had been normal.
Does this point to anything other than a ruined gas tank? Is this something worth repairing?
The only other relevant info is that I did have a crack in the gas line repaired 6 months ago, and we have had unusually cold weather in the past week or so.
