Hi all..

Ok .. so after struggling all morning to get to the air mixing box and heater core I finally managed to get there!

The problem was intermittent heat output, which I thought was caused by the mixer flap not moving (the lever wasn't broken and was actuating ok). Inside the blower-box is the flap controlled by the arm - it hadn't come loose and responded ok to the lever. My question now is...is there another mixer flap anywhere else ??

I pulled the heater core out while I was there - is seemed silly not to - and as predicted it was totally Donald Ducked with green fur and slime all over one edge. I had a quote from German and Swedish of £57.00 - my local Saab stealer wanted £180.00!!! Guess where I'm going in the morning...

Question two ... I might as well drain the coolant and refill with new fluid... If I flush through the flow and return pipes for the heater core, will the water path be impeded by the 'stat?? Will I have to take the 'stat out to get an effective flush??

Any help appreciated...
