Has probably somewhere between 175 and 200k miles. The drivetrain has been pretty good, and it's still very quick (it's an early '86 with cloth interior, and I'm told they put the cams from the N/A engine in those).
The motor and the 5 speed still have a lot left in them (I use it for zooming up the mountains on ski trips), but the suspension really needs a thurough sorting out. It floats and bobs, and leans this way and that. Not what I'd call rock solid at all.
Still, over the new year holiday, we drove it down to Las Vegas (a 900 mile round trip, total) with no problems at all.
What's finally doing the car in is the A/C. I had it converted to R-134a a couple of years ago, and it has just never worked very well after that. True, in Utah, you won't need it for more than 4 months, but during at least 2 of those 4 months, you'll REALLY need it. Plus, the interior and exterior are starting to show their age. Surface rust spots in some places, along the front edge of the hood, and the edges of the doors. The interior needs a good cleaning, but is mostly OK. The seats are starting to look a little beat, though.
Finally there's a large crack which runs the full height of the windshield. In UT, that means it won't pass inspection due by the end of this month. Since a new windshield would cost upwards of $400, I decided that it's finally become not worth it anymore.
If I had a garage where I could put the car up and work on it, and do the necessary care and feeding, I might not have decided that way, but I live in an apartment, so ther you go. Instead, I bought a '92 9000 turbo, which is a fantastic car; but I'll always fondly remeber my white '86 Saab.
