Oil pressure help!

OK, for those of you watching the board and reading my messages (thank you all), you may have seen many timing chain questions about my '86 9000T. Well, thanks to all your help, I've got it all back together and it seems to idle wonderfully. One problem though. As I was putting the timing cover on, I noticed that i hadn't lined up the oil intake pipe right. The timing cover was almost bolted in all the way when i noticed. I quickly removed the cover and maneuvered the pipe back into place and continued to put the cover all the way on and put everything back together. I unplugged the coil and cranked it a few times to get the oil moving, then proceeded to start it normally. The oil pressure light stayed on for a second or two then winked out. However, there was a loud knocking coming from the engine, intake valve side. I'm afraid to run it too long incase the oil isn't pumping right. I've already searched the archives and done some of the suggested ideas, clean the oil pressure valve for one. I'm stumped and don't have the money to take it to my mechanic (and since he opens on monday, I'm grounded till then anyway).
If anyone has any idea I would be most grateful.
Thanks
Andrew W.
