Just when you think you are getting ahead of your bills winter raises it's cold head.

My wife goes out in her 1992 9000s in the last snow storm and slips taking off from a stop sign. Having never had issues in the past 13 winters with the car she somehow thinks "That's it! Time to get an all wheel drive." I think I can make peace with 2 snow tires because the 4 tires on the car were the last set we would ever have to buy as the car at the time had 125,497 miles on it. Well now it has 145,200 miles and the car runs great so 2 snows and we are good to go.

Do you think I would look at the tires first, nooooooooo! Instead I buy two like new wheels and trot off to the tire center only to find out the tires on the car are shot. Just 2 were less than okay but considering the mileage or lack of I was amazed at how poorly they held up. So I buy 4 new Yokohamas and the car tracks like it is on rails again, my wife is happy and I have 2 really nice rims sitting in my garage taking up space.

Some times I am my own worst enemy! Moral: Check first, buy rims second.
