Hello all, I need some help pretty quickly here-
In Dec. my RF ball joint failed (actually, nut was missing) and I had a shop take care of putting everything back together. When they were done, they gave me a laundry list of things that needed to be done, and I'm dropping the car (92 9000 211k miles) off tonight to get some of these things taken care of. I would like to have them do as little as possible because the shop I'm taking it too charges $75/hr for labor. Here is the list:
-Free play L/out tie rod end
-All 4 front control arm bushing brackets are broken
-Rear sway bar bushings are loose
-Cat. converter heat shield is rotted wide open
-Both front hydraulic motor mounts are broken
My question is, what of this can I put off for 3 weeks to do myself? I don't have a work space at present, so I need to put off as much as possible until I can drive 300 miles home to take care of it. I'm having a front end vibration and some steering pull to the right so I'm thinking that I need to get the tie rod end, control arm bushings and an alignment at minimum. I really would like to keep it at that, so does anyone have experience replacing the rear sway bar bushings or the catalytic converter heat shield? For a sense as to what I'm capable of doing myself, I'm planning on doing the hydraulic motor mounts myself as a challenge although I'm relatively new at DIY work.
Anyone who can give me a sense as to what I'm getting myself into with the sway bar bushings / heat shield (and motor mounts) and any hints or tips as to how to do it will be my friend for life!
Thanks!
