Could also be thermostat or coolant temperature sensor Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: 94 9000 Aero guzzling gas, Demitri, Thu, 5 Feb 2004 05:31:29 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
My suggestions:
1. I would also suspect the fuel pressure regulator, you can do a quick test yourself by pulling off the vacuum hose on the top - if there's fuel there, the diaphragm is ruptured, allowing fuel to get sucked into the intake - do a search for more explanation.
2. Is your heat operating properly, does the temperature gauge go up to at least 8:00? If the coolant is not warming up and providing sufficient heat, the thermostat may be stuck open (or perhaps missing altogether). The car will operate in "warm up" mode all the time, using more fuel.
3. If the coolant temperature sensor (under intake manifold on my '94) incorrectly reports that the engine is "cold", the ECU programs more fuel delivery. To check, measure the resistance at different temperatures - do a search or values should be in a manual.
