Fuel Pump Noise

I think the vibration and noise may be from worn main pump parts that may occasionally get misaligned. Can that part be fixed and how with out having to buy another fuel pump? Is it indicative of sudden and soon pump failure possibly at a terrible time or location? I have an otherwise nice running 1988 9ks hatchback with 190k miles.
Possibly some of the great minds and helpful people on this BB can tell me what this means and how it could be fixed or provide some suggestions. I get an occasional whine or vibrating groan from the fuel pump. Have removed the cover plate and felt vibrations in the delivery hose, from the pump to the engine, when the noise is present and they are at the same frequency as the noise. The engine and car run fine, just have the occasional noise which worries me that I may be stranded somewhere. Sometimes a hard left turn will start the vibration and realated noise. The electric motor part of the main pump seems to continue to run fine, since that is a separate hum that is always the same regardless. Thoughts or suggestions please? Thank you.
