Car purrs like a kitten, very nice change. I was surprised that the chain was hardly worn from 300000km, the cogs, even including the camshaft cog looks very close to the new ones I put in. THe rails were shot. The rubber coating was rock hard and the chain groved through that. But I decided that is was a good move to replace everything....especially after wrestlying with the Alternator/Power steering pump bracket...thankfully I'm left handed which helped there!
I was careful with the oil pump, cleaned it well, and the light went off immediately upon start up. I primed it with Militec 1 grease.
Some notes:
A) mAke sure you absolutely replace the oil pikup tube o-ring. I did not have an issue with the headgasket when putting the cover on, but I did have an issue with the pick up tube. it was inserted straight, but with the new o-ring, it took a lot of power to get the tube through. At least I know it was a good seal.
B) at 300K the oil pump o-ring crumbled like plastic
that;s about all. It humms along now like a new car, and the accelerations is slightly smoother, which is nice.
