How bad was the rust? (long) Posted by DickT [Email] (#1628) [Profile/Gallery] (more from DickT) on Thu, 4 Mar 2004 15:53:19 In Reply to: Re: Short Windshield Story '88 9ks (cont'd), gadge, Thu, 4 Mar 2004 06:29:37 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have an 88s parts car with 153k miles that has a better body than my 89 with 220k. I have been considering putting all the good parts on the 88 at some point. Although there isn't visible rust around the windshield, it is cracked. The car had leaked badly inside when I got it from a friend. Most of the drips accumulated on the rear view mirror and fell on the shifter. The windshield molding seemed to be separated from the body somewhat at top center. I dried the interior out and covered the roof, hood, and windshield with 6mil poly for the winter. The car's seen some salt, but not as much as my 89. Since I'm weighing the merits of trying to revive the 88s I'd appreciate any advice from you on that particular model especially considering the mileage you got out of yours.
