I just had the heater core replaced in my 95 9000 CSE v6. Check under your floor mats and see if you have coolant on the floor of either the drivers side or passanger side. My driver's side floor was soaked with coolant, and I could see it leaking from the heater vent, which passes under the console. I also had a distinct smell when the heat came on occasionally. Kind of like maple syrup. Cost about $450 or so, but ended up having the cabin fan replaced too (needs to be removed to get at the core), so ended up about $800 for parts and labor. That hurt the wallet, but fixed the problem. I looked at the heater core and the cabin fan that they pulled out and both were shot. The heater core had leaks all over it.
I have a few other coolant leaks in the system, but a dose of Bars stop leak seemed to help that.
Good luck
