with heavy modified 2.0L with 300000km. I'm a status quo driver most days, traffic isn't condusive to speeding. Once a week as you descibed if that! My definition of driving most weeks is a small city commute (few lights) mixed with highway @100kph speed. some tire smoking 3rd gear accelerations for fun. Today I drove on one of our seldomely travelled over engineered exprresway. 1 hour straight @14o-160kph that's it. So basically I'm good to the oil, and usually change @ 8-10K km, depending on how much city driving, or how much the car sits during the week. the 88 has had synthetic since 1988. When I went to do the timing chain after hearing a major rattle....I found out my tensioner was harldly extended, and really only to do with completley ggrooved chain guides! So there you go....decent oil chain intervals and 300000km later engine internals are near 'new'.
I would extend my oil intervals to 12000+ if I did not have such large fuel injectors and high fuel pressure for big boost. I'm a little worried about fuel dillution over a long interval, but I have not done an oil analysis, so I'm not sure on that......
