Thanks Ari for your reply. Here is the scope. The charcoal canister (intake canister) has two hoses connected to it: one goes to the intake, the other one is connected to the gas tank.
Another thing puzzles me, when the gas tank is empty and I remove the cap to fill up, I do not hear any swoosh sound of air going into the tank (air fills up "vacuum" created inside the tank by used fuel). This always happens with my other cars. Since the cannister has a breather hose from the gas tank, I thought may be the tank is "breathing too much" and therefore there won't be a pressure in the gas tank and consequently the fuel gauge will not work properly.
Why does the fuel gauge work when I drive the car at high speed for a few minutes. My theory is that the fuel is leaving at a higher rate and the gas tank does not have enough time to depressurize.
