I know what you mean, mine will do the same thing even with the #1 or #2 switch held down as Peter says. You will have to get his and hers cars, my wife rarely drives mine and hers doesn't have memory seats. This might be a case of dirty seat position pots or other electrical noise that makes noise while the seat is moving. It's possible the control recognizes this, stops to let the position signal settle, and then trys again to hit the target.
