It doesn't damage anything and the shifting is great but I have somewhat more gear noise compared to all other oils in hot weather. Used it a few times with mixed results.
I usually use rotella 15W40, even Valvoline racing (conventional) 20W50 with a toufch of Moly slip (yes, you heard correctly;), due to my engine modifications. I want to use Redlime MT-90 or Shockproof, as per Scanwest Autosports recommendations for the 9000 (they are rebuilders of 9K trans, and that is what they fill with), but it is unavailable locally.
Redline MTL is another oil that is more akin to 5W30 viscosity rating, so this is NOT recommended. MT-90 and medium shock prook are similar to 10W40 conventional. I was told by a honda owner who races his machines (and has a suspiciously similar transmission to my 88), that the MTF barely meets 10W30 viscosity requirements. Whether htat is good or bad for hondas, I don't know.
