I also had the SP5000 Asymmetricals (205/55-16), and I purchased them from TireRack. They only lasted 22K miles. Actually, when they first started to wear out, the wet traction diminished incredibly so!
I have since plus-sized (225/50-16) and went with Continental ContiExtremeContacts. I've only had them for 1K miles, but so far so good. They actually feel just like the Dunlop's, and yet they beat them out in every review on TireRack, as well as price.
There is definitely a difference in steering with the larger size. One touch of the wheel is all it takes to send the car in that direction. Very sensitive now. It is taking some time to get used to it.
But I loved the Dunlop's for as long as they lasted in workable form. I highly recommend them if replacing tires quicker is not a problem.
