Shocking rear shocks problem....

I just had the local shop replace my rear shocks on a '90 Turbo hatchback, now to my dismay the car sinks to nearly the bottom of the travel with only a little weight in the back!
I'm pretty sure the replaced shocks were the originals, and the new ones are Boge. I vaguely recall prior threads mentioning sagging problems if replacing Nivomats, but the shop said the old ones weren't the self-levelers.
Any help would be greatly appreciated!
