Interesting question?
For me, I like to use the standard 'worm clamps' on c/v joints because they are easy and cheap to get, they also require no special tools to install, just a flat head screwdriver. If I can get/use the same type of clamp that works on radiator hoses and such, why get something different for other applications? Makes no sense that I can see, so whenever I remove what I think are silly fasteners, I replace with something more user friendly.
When you buy replacement c/v boot kits, they usually will come with the same type of clamp that was fitted as stock, and with those you use plyers to crimp (snap in place, then crush the fitting). I just don't trust them to hold all that great so I don't use them. I use the above clamps instead.
Hope that helps..
See Ya,
Phil
