The first iteration of the last generation came out in '93. Rather than focusing on releasing new models every few years, Saab's focus was on perfecting what was already out there. By '98, they'd pretty much gotten it perfect, but these are the most difficult to come across. Many say that '93 is the worst year, but you'll find a few satisfied '93 owners on this BB (including myself) so that's arguable. The one big disadvantage about the earlier turbo models of this generation is non-switchable TCS, which you'd probably want to avoid.
In general, the newer, the better. Of course, an abused '98 may not last as long as a pampered '95.
