Lots of alarm info here, at the wonderful Townsend Imports site:

The car does have a motion sensor. You can't disable it, but you can adjust the sensitivity. I have adjusted the sensitivity on mine to the minimum. When I first had the car, it would be set off by thunderstorms, and once when a band with drums marched by. It was much more sensitive to sound than to shock - just bumping into it wouldn't trip the alarm.
It's possible that something did trip the alarm before you got to it.
Dropping the sensitivity to minimum works pretty well - I've never had the alarm go off since then. The only way I know of to disable the alarm is to not lock the driver's door with a key. If you open the left rear door, and push down the lock button on the driver's door, all the doors will lock, and you can then close the left rear door. The car will be locked, but the alarm won't be set. Why do this? With non-remote equipped cars (like my '92) sometimes it is nice to be able to unlock the passenger door or trunk without the alarm going off or needing to unlock the driver's door first.
