that I use for my winter car. If I was to sell it even with both sets of new tires, I wouldn't expect to get more than $2K for it. The minute the car starts showing signs of rust you have 2 choices: Get it fixed for big bucks, or let it go downhill.
To get the rust problems taken care of could run you thousands. The owner for whatever reason went cheap on exhaust and didn't take care of the exterior. To me that screams he took shortcuts wherever he could. Unless he has documented maintenance history, keep looking for a better buy.
My 91CD with 160K miles just started showing the rust behind the rear wheelwell this winter. A car that is 3 years newer shouldn't be already rusting and having clearcoat issues yet unless it was neglected.
I would have the rust on my CD fixed, but I have had the car for 9 years now and I was due for a change. I wound up buying a BMW and keeping the Saab for a winter car....BMWs suck in the winter.
Keep looking
David
PS: if you want, I will sell my 91 CD turbo for a lot less. Just got a new headgasket and cylender head this fall. I like having a winter car, but my wife doesn't like parking her minivan in the driveway.
