I bought a used fan controller after having tried Quasi's transistor replacement therapy to no avail, probably due to ham-handedness with the soldering iron. When I hot-wired the fan to a toggle switch in the cabin the fan blew hard. When I replaced the controller, max fan speed was decidedly slower. This leads me to believe voltage drops along the contact path may contribute to cabin blowing problems. I haven't tried recrimping the cables, but battery contacts will fail, so there is no reason why this circuit would not be similarly effected by bad contacts.
