and they are fine. Go on in about 5 mins.

They are made by Thule, but the big difference is that the bars are permanently mounted to the uprights. And the bar ends are at the uprights, too, instesad of extending out beyond them. For most people this is no biggie, but if you want extra width--like for carrying a couple of canoes or kayaks side by side--you don't have the width.

However, you can use the factory racks, clamp on a wider Thule bar and get the width that way, or possibly use the extenders Thule offers as an accessory. I'm getting around this by buying the Thule "Hull-a-Port" kayak racks which hold the yaks on their sides. Can now carry two no prob.
