I pull my CD using the end of a skinny phillips head intended for use on computers. It pops the latches and then I use the flat-head end of the same tool to gently pry the CD unit out. Very easy.
The radio works the same way. Just grabthe cassette slot with my finger tips and gave it a little pull once the latches were popped. I think I use the flat end on the radio, too.
But a bent coat hanger will do both latches at once, which is a bit easier.
