Coming home other day, came around corner and lost D,3,2,1. Reverse, park and neutral fine. Car has 133k and is new to me, only drove about 2k on it. Previous svc records indicate new trans at 112k. I had been noticing that it took a couple of secs to engage in D and also 2-3 and 3-4 was most times a hard shift and only at about 3k rpm. A friend of mine who is car smart and smart enought to not try working on this prob/this car, did listen to it and thinks maybe something like a port valve and if there is a celanoid for the trans(?). I might mention that I have not heard any whinnig when shifting.
Having provided some background, I have read thru much info on this BB and found that there are a number of things that could be the issue rather than just automatically saying the tranny is fried-replace it. I tried to access the "Transmission fault line (?)" document via the address provided but couldn't. I really could use some input as to where to start first. My head is swimming with good info picked up here but where to start first. I am not a DIYer but like to know as much as possible prior to going for repair.
thanks for any and all input
