I did just the opposite of you. When the lease on my '01 Forester was up, I purchased a '93 9k CSET. Thus far other than traditional servicing (i.e., front and rear brakes, new tires, flush and replace all fluids), I've replaced the heater core, torque mount, O2 sensor, CV boots, almost all of the vac. hoses, turbo bypass valve and the ACC unit. I feel like I'm almost done (for the sake of $$ I hope so ;-)). Keeping thinking about a rear sway bar though!
Question for you is why you didn't get the new Forest XT (turbo)? It tempted me plenty when my lease was up and I still could end up with one when we get the second car (though I'm presently thinking a pre-certified 9-3 or 9-5). It has a lot more power especially at altitude. Just curious. Have fun with your new Forester, it's a good car.
