FPR or AMM? Posted by Bill Homer [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Re: Compression Test n/m & Fuel Smell, stevec, Thu, 6 May 2004 10:48:26 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Mike,
Have you tested the FPR yet? A quick check is to pull off its vacuum hose, check for gas leaking through, then CAREFULLY suck on a hose connected to the vacuum side - it should not leak. Search the archives for more conclusive tests. Based on the sudden onset of your problem, I'd guess that this is a likely candidate.
There are other sources for AMMs besides Patrick (I'm actually shocked that they would even bother to do a part price check for you on a 15-year-old car!), which is one of my local dealers as well. I believe that Saabstory or one of the other sponsors offers rebuilt AMMs for much less, but not sure. Search the archives for some info on testing, i.e. the nominal resistance can be read with an ohmmeter. I've never had a car with an AMM, so don't know for sure.
