I went through the same thing 2 years' ago, and was ready to yank the sway bar out and throw it away!
I found by using a crowbar (or "persuader" bar) under the car body and pressing on the top of the bushing bracket was I able to compress it enough to get the holes to line up. I also installed each bolt just enough for the threads to catch so that the bracket could still move for better alignment. I also used a 1/4" drive on the bolts that had very little clearance. I had more problems getting my end-links back into the control arms than I did with the sway bar chassis brackets!
I used oem rubber for the chassis bushings, but for poly, I have read that you're supposed to freeze them to make them shrink for better fitment of the metal bracket.
BTW: it's been mentioned often on this board that using poly in the front sway bar chassis bushings increases the over-steer that the 9K already has too much of. Using poly in the rear swar bar and rubber in the front minimizes the amount, but using poly in the front with poly in the rear brings it right back.
