return line shaking noisy longish

I have a 89 9k turbo. I recently replaced the check valve leading to the motro, right above the tank. Since I have done that I have experienced a gradually increasing buzz from the fuel pump. When I start the car in the AM, the pump is very quiet. If I run back in the house to get the coffee cup I forgot, by the time I return 2 minutes later with the engine idling, the pump is a lot louder. If I drive away to my destination, soon after (within minutes) the pump is whailing away. Very loud. Can hear it through the board, the carpet and back seats while I am driving. So it's pretty loud.
Initially I thought the fuel regulator had gone out. i replaced that. Same building noise. (I replaced the fuel filter several monthes ago.)
If I pop the back floor out and hold the return line, it seems as if that is were the resistance is resonatig through. The line leading to the motor does not vibrate like the return line.
No loss of power, though I do have an irratic idle that I hadn't had before. Recently I have had to "jump start" the fuel pump to start. From the fuse area. I am not sure if that is related or not.
I have silicon vacuum lines that I replaced in September about.
Is there a chance the return line could be blocked?
I welcome any and all ideas. I am near my wits end. Thanks in advance.
Eric
