I have a '93 Aero, with a manual transmission. Just got it at the begnning of April, and I've been averaging 23mpg, with a mix of about 60/40 city/highway. I do not have a light foot, either. This was the biggest surprise of the car, actually - I was expecing far worse, considering it was an act of god if I could squeeze 16mpg out of my dearly departed '91 C900 2.1 litre non-turbo. I can only conclude that this is due to the 900 being horrendously out of tune, or I simply use much less throttle to achieve the accelleration I typically desire with the Aero - also, it could easily be a combination of both factors. To be fair, if I really am giving it stick my mileage in the Aero, the average can go below 14mpg, also, if I am very sedately cruising on the highway, 34mpg is achieveable.
All in all, I am most impressed - especially considering the available performance. Marvelous!
