as they can only go together one way (assuming, as I do, that the factory plastic quick-connectors are still in place). Saab's done a great job of de-rocket-sciencing these cars.

In order to remove the transmission, the battery has to be removed from the car. Not unusual to get "phantom" error codes if the battery has lost some charge, which may have been the case if it was out of the car long enough. Try resetting things by once again disconnecting the battery for a few hours. Make sure the battery has adequate charge before hooking it back up. Then see what happens when you give it the go.

Basically, on startup the car runs through a series of self-checks and tests, activating this or that valve, checking this or that resistance, etc. If there isn't sufficient juice in the battery, any of those checks may come back to the computer's brain as out of spec and cause it to return an error.

If disconnecting the battery doesn't clear things up, take the car to a Saab specialist and have them clear the codes with their ISAT or Tech II -- sometimes this is required if the codes are really stubborn. Using this tool they can also tell more about what codes are being thrown and what might be required to fix them.
