This a belated thanks to those who responded to my question back in Dec. (I think it was Dec.)about putting an 87 engine into a 89 9K. I just finished it a couple of weeks ago and it runs great. After a severe kidney stone attack followed by a long cold winter I left it alone till it warmed up again here in CT. You guys were right! To change to the crank trigger style ignition you do need to change the oil pump for mounting it. Good time to change oil pump seals. Also had to use 89 intake/fuel rail as the fuel line connections(feed and return) are on opposite ends from 87. Fuel pressure reg in 89 bolts to T-stat housing. 87 not drilled and tapped for that. Time for new T-stat. Hoses connect to valve cover on opposite end also. Chance to change valve cover gasket. In the long though, easy enough and the 87 motor is strong so my wife is happy to have her 9K back!! Many thanks again, Rick Persson
