You don't use the 518 with O-ring gaskets anyway. Just put a thin bead on black oil/heat resistant silicon on the bottom of valve cover to keep the gasket in place and fill the voids.
The reason I use black is it doesn't get ugly looking if some seeps out on the outside of valve cover.
Don't over due it since excessive silicon can get into the engine and clogg up the oil pick up screen.
The 518 anerobic sealant is for use on two machined surfaces where no paper gasket is used, like the oil pan and front/rear engine cover.
