The joys of TCS...

A couple of months ago I had some problems with my LF wheel, apparently the hub had been damaged and was on its way out, causing play in the wheel. Before I had it diagnosed the TCS light started coming on at launch, and the brake pedal started kicking back at low speeds.
It seemed fairly obvious that the wheel sensor might be the culprit. My tech has tried a new sensor on the wheel and it made no difference. there are currently no fault codes coming up. The codes that came up a few months ago indicated that we should check the main relay (replaced) and the wheel sensor.
Does anyone have any thoughts as to where to look next? Is there any chance that another wheel sensor might be the culprit and that its just rotten timing? There have been no issues with TCS on this car before now.
Occasionally the TCS Cntl and ABS lights come on and stay on (usually reset by re-starting the car), but the car is not and never has been in LHM.
I've done a search on TCS in the archives, and its definately an area where angels fear to tred. Would fitting a TCS off switch mask the problem (I know it wouldn't solve the problem as such but if the TCS was off then I'm guessing I wouldn't have kick back through the brake pedal and se the TCS light flashing on and off at launch and low speeds.)?
Can anyone help?
TIA
