momentary loss of power under hard accel.

Possible scary problem...unfortunately it's one of those problems that is kind of hard to describe. 1995 9000 Aero, auto tranny, 125K miles. Occasionally, when on the highway and hitting the gas hard (for example to pass someone or to pick up speed coming off an on-ramp), the entire system will "hiccup" for a second: total loss of engine power, CD player shuts off, etc. This only lasts for an instant before it goes right back to normal. It has never happened to me in city driving, only on the highway, and it seems to only be when accelerating fairly hard (and it also seems more likely to occur on an uphill than level ground). Since my driving is roughly 99% city and 1% highway, it's not a problem that I encounter too frequently, but whatever it is, it can't be good. The important distinction here seems to be that it's caused only by hard acceleration. Gentle pressure on the gas is fine.
Could this be related to a very small but perceptible loss of boost that I've noticed over the past year? Meter still shows boost into the red, but it feels--in some unquantifiable way--like it's just not giving as much power as it should.
Thanks guys!
1995 9K Aero, vrooooOOOOM!!
